This book summarizes the conferences of the second course on the history of cartography, part of a series of six seminars to be held annually. It is dedicated to the Mapping of the Iberian Peninsula and its extension to the Americas, and consists of three parts:

The first year of the cycle was held in January 1990 and was a General introduction to the history of cartography (Barcelona: Institut Cartographic de Catalunya, 1990, 137 pages).
