This book summarizes the conferences of the second course on the history of cartography, part of a series of six seminars to be held annually. It is dedicated to the Mapping of the Iberian Peninsula and its extension to the Americas, and consists of three parts:

• Les cartoteques a la Península Ibèrica. Funció i contingut. Estudi dels centres amb documentació cartogràfica i la seva localització geogràfica, by Montserrat Galera.
• Historia de la cartografía española, by Rodolfo Núñez de las Cuevas.
• Etapas de evoluçao da cartografia portuguesa (séculos XV a XIX), by Maria Fernanda Alegria i Joao Carlos Garcia.

The first year of the cycle was held in January 1990 and was a General introduction to the history of cartography (Barcelona: Institut Cartographic de Catalunya, 1990, 137 pages).
